I’ve noticed that Cenk Uygur from The Young Turks news is pronouncing 4
syllables ,Is it because he lives in Los Angeles?
It's because he's pretentious.
Really, if you want to speak slowly and stress the word, such as when using the word as an interjection — "Interesting." — then you might pronounce all four vowels.
Otherwise, the second vowel is reduced out of existence.
I’m an urban inner city guy in his mid twenties. My parents are from the
deep sticks of Florida….They do/cannot pronounce ANYTHING correctly. And
of course, this is how I learned to speak. Now that I’m working in
corporate America, my dialect (if you will) is more noticeable, to me at
least. Do you have any tips to fix this?? Someone told me to move to Ohio
because its where news anchors learn to speak. thanks
How about the ubiqutious California pronunciation of interesting as,
“Inter-es- ting?
6 different ways to say the same word???, Oh shit, I’m learning language
that´ll be completely different than nowadays in 10 years :(.
I prefer the four syllable sound as there is the word ‘inter’ in it.
Inter-es-ting.
Inter-es-ting sounds more American
AMAZING!!!
Hello Heather, I really like your way of teaching. This is one of my most
difficult words to pronounce. Greetings from Mexico.
I love the sound of your voice, do you do voice over work?
Thank you for this. Yesterday I was having a discussion with an American
English teacher who kept saying: “IN-ter-rest-ting.” I have heard others
say that and I am wondering where they got it from, if it is a local
dialect somewhere in the US. Anyway, I really dislike it, which is how I
ended up here. I was looking for acceptable pronunciations. Thanks again.
